Benevento’s Riccardo Improta netted his first-ever Serie A goal against Fiorentina and dreams of scoring again against Juventus next week.

The ‘Streghe’ managed a 1-0 away win at Fiorentina on Cesare Prandelli’s second debut with La Viola.

“It’s a goal that is worth a lot, especially for the moment we were living,” Improta told Otto Channel.

“We were surrounded by many criticisms, but we are a team that wants to continue its journey and defend the category we have conquered.

“These 15 days after the defeat against Spezia gave us a big boost, we were good at finding dialogue and motivation.

“I thank Roberto [Insigne] for his assist, I dedicate the goal to my wife and my daughter who will born shortly, I’ve been waiting for this celebration for eight months.”

Filippo Inzaghi’s side will face Juventus at home next Saturday.

“It would be a dream to score again, but we know very well that there are opponents of a completely different level.

“This does not mean that we will not give the best, football can give many fairy tales and this Benevento side deserves every satisfaction. The mentality must always be the same.”
